Ugh, Mark Stone Is Injured Again

Mark Stone‘s start put him well on his way to a dream season with the Vegas Golden Knights. Don’t get us wrong — Stone has always been great, coming into this season with 89 goals and 256 points in 274 career games as a Knight. But this year, he started with six goals and 21 points, fighting the likes of Kirill Kaprizov and Nathan MacKinnon for the NHL lead.

Nothing was going to stand in his way… until…

Ooof. The Knights going on to lose 3-4 against the Seattle Kraken didn’t help lift the mood, either.

The good news is, day-to-day isn’t nearly as bad as the myriad of injuries that have held Stone to just 136 of a possible 246 regular season games over the past three years. The bad news is, even a small injury at this point is going to make you go “Uh-oh.” with Stone. If something’s bad enough to keep him out of a game, how long will it affect the captain?

While Vegas is strong down the middle, losing Stone (or having him less than 100%) is going to put stress on the Knights’ wing depth. Ivan Barbashev (seven goals, 16 points) and Pavel Dorofeyev (eight goals, 11 points) give them some punch at the top end, but beyond that? It’s difficult to replace the playmaking. Here’s to hoping Stone is back and on track soon.
