Vikings Sign Stephon Gilmore
After a visit and a bit of will they, wont they, The Vikings just made a much-needed addition to their secondary.

Since entering the league in 2012, Gilmore has 31 career interceptions and has been selected to five Pro Bowls. The best two-year stretch of his career was from 2018-2019 in New England. In 2018, he won a Super Bowl with the Patriots and was named a First Team All-Pro. The year following was even better, as in addition to being named a First Team All-Pro for a second straight year, he led the NFL in interceptions with six (two of which were returned to the house). His efforts in 2019 gave him the NFL Defensive Player of the Year.
Over the last three seasons, he has spent time with the Panthers, Colts, and Cowboys. As a Cowboy in 2023, Gilmore started all 17 games and set a career high with 68 tackles.
The signing provides much needed relief for a Vikings’ cornerback room that has faced a tough offseason unlike any other. Rookie Khyree Jackson tragically passed away in a car accident, and Mekhi Blackmon tore his ACL on the first day of training camp just a few weeks later. Stephon Gilmore’s signing will provide the Vikings with a badly needed veteran presence and an instant impact starter who still has gas left in the tank.
Gilmore will be reunited with defensive coordinator Brian Flores, whose last two seasons as the Patriots’ linebackers coach from 2017 to 2018 overlapped with Gilmore’s time in New England. The future Hall of Famer is now penciled in as the starting cornerback opposite Shaquill Griffin, who was signed as a free agent back in March.
