It was a bunch of points and a bunch of backups on Saturday night as the Cleveland Browns lost to the Seattle Seahawks 37-34. Despite Kevin Stefanski, resting a large amount of his important players we still got a few takeaways from the teams final preseason game.

It’s nice to have Jameis Winston. After last year’s quarterback debacle it can’t be understated how nice it is to watch the an accomplished backup quarterback in the preseason. Jamies came in and was calm, on time, and on target as he led the team down the field on a 61 yard drive that ultimately stalled out on a fourth down.

It’s nice to know that if Deshaun Watson’s seemingly constant injury issues continue to exist, the team has a better chance with a more capable leader this season.

We finally saw Cedric Tillman give fans a glimpse of what many believe he’s capable of. Vibing with Winston on the opening drive, Tillman looked dominate hauling in catches of 23, 6, and 19 yards.

Hopefully this is the spark young wide receiver needs to grab hold of a serious contributing role. challenging Elijah Moore for part of a deep wide receiver core could be the difference for an offense that has big game aspirations and a lot of average football to put behind them.

If Tillman can’t fill the role maybe Jamari Thrash can? As good as Tillman was on Saturday, Thrash was even better grabbing four catches for 73 yards and a deep, beautiful touchdown when the team needed it most.

The fifth round pick has played so well throughout the preseason that some are asking if he could be this year’s Puka Nacua.(Let’s not be ridiculous)

Oh you thought the wide receiver praise was done? Well, if Tillman and Thrash don’t do it for you maybe Michael Woods II will.

A sixth-round pick two years ago, Woods sat out all of last year due to an Achilles injury/suspension. Seemingly near the end of his chances Woods has crushed this preseason and Saturday was no exception. The third year Dawg hauled in five receptions for 53 yards and two touchdowns. The latter of the two was a thing of beauty.

Cleveland finds themselves in a position of strength at the QB spot  at the end of the preseason as Tyler Huntley went nuts on Saturday. The former Raven went 17-of-22 with 146 yards and three touchdowns.

As much as this might trigger Browns fans, we should all be hoping the team can find a willing trade partner for Huntley who, despite his performance, almost certainly won’t make the roster.

There wasn’t much to brag about on defense. On a night where most anybody who mattered didn’t play and the team gave up a ton of points one linebacker stood out. Mohamoud Diabate.

The undrafted free agent showed out in preseason last year and is aiming to make an impact on the roster of this season. On Saturday, he put together a three tackle performance with a sack.

Diabaté will certainly be an asset on special teams, but he certainly someone to keep your eyes as he tries to climb up that linebacker depth chart. It was a bunch of points and a bunch of backups on Saturday night as the Cleveland Browns lost to the Seattle Seahawks 33-37.
