The Lions won on a walk-off field goal from Jake Bates to take down the Green Bay Packers at Ford Field by a final score of 34-31. The primetime win brings the Lions’ record to 12-1, and they are now 1.5 games up on the Minnesota Vikings for first place in the NFC North.

What were the numbers that defined the Lions’ 12th victory of the season?

80% – Dan “Gamble” Campbell decided to go for it on fourth down five times on Thursday night, and got four first downs to show for it (80%). The only non-conversion was near the end of the third quarter, when Jahmyr Gibbs lost a yard on 4th-and-1 from the Lions’ own 31-yard line.

2Tim Patrick had two touchdowns in this game. It was the second multi-touchdown game of his career, the first of which came when he played for the Broncos back in 2020.

6 – Six different Lions pass catchers (Jameson Williams, Sam LaPorta, Amon-Ra St. Brown, Gibbs, David Montgomery, Patrick) caught passes from Jared Goff, and all of them had at least five receptions.

6 – Bates made all six of his kicks for the Lions in this game (two field goals, four PATs), including his game-winning 35-yard field goal as time expired.

8Jack Campbell was the only Lions player who had more than four total tackles, registering eight, including three solo tackles.

3Josh Jacobs (Jingleheimer Schmidt) had three rushing touchdowns against the Lions on Thursday night, making him the second player to notch a hat trick against Detroit this season in terms of rushing touchdowns. The first was Kenneth Walker, who accomplished the feat back in Week 4.

1 – The Packers scored 31 points on the Lions despite converting just one of their five third-down opportunities.

17.2Jordan Love only completed 12 passes, but managed to throw for 206 yards, giving him an average of 17.2 yards per completion.

31 – The Lions ran 31 more total plays than the Packers did on Thursday night, an edge of 76-45. A big reason for that was…

5 – Detroit had five offensive drives that lasted for at least ten plays. Every one of those drives ended in a score (four touchdowns and Bates’ game-winner).

9 – The Lions were money in short-yardage situations — their four TDs were for a combined nine yards of offense. The first was a Montgomery three-yard rush, the second was a two-yard reception by Gibbs, and the following two were three-and-one-yard receptions caught by Patrick.
