In a battle of teams who haven’t won since Week 1, the Miami Dolphins and New England Patriots battled it out in Foxborough. The Dolphins walked away with the victory by a final score of 15-10. It was a critical win; however, Miami has still scored the fewest points (60) of any team in the NFL through Week 5.

What other numbers defined the win against the Patriots?

1Alec Ingold’s 3 yard rushing touchdown, which ultimately proved to be the game winner, was his one carry in the game.

1 – Ingold’s touchdown run was the one time in which either team scored a touchdown on a red zone drive.

24 – The Dolphins, who were sixth in the NFL in passing touchdowns in 2023, have not logged a single passing touchdown in 24 days (their last one was in Week 2 against Buffalo).

27.4 – Miami’s passing offense under Mike McDaniel between 2022-2024 with and without Tua Tagovailoa have many startling comparisons, with one of the largest being the QB rating. Under Tua, Miami’s QB rating is 101.5 with him under center (2nd in the NFL) and a paltry 74.1 (32nd in the NFL) without him for a difference of 27.4.

32.73% – Despite the win, the Dolphins are still only completing third downs on a 32.73% clip. It’s a dramatic step down from last year (40.19%).

32 – After De’Von Achane left the game with a concussion, Raheem Mostert and Jaylen Wright did the bulk of the offensive work for the Dolphins. They combined for 32 carries and 146 yards, and the Dolphins’ rushing attack had 41 total carries.

105 – The Patriots accumulated 12 penalties for 105 yards. That penalty yardage total was tied for the sixth most penalty yards in a game in the 2024 season.

4 – While the Patriots were a mistake prone penalty team, the Dolphins made four critical mistakes in special teams. The mistakes included a missed FG, a blocked punt, a snap that rolled to the holder, and offensive holding on a successful kick.

3 – Sunday’s game was the third straight game in which Jason Sanders did not attempt a PAT.

1 – Despite allowing a 33 yard touchdown rush to Rhamondre Stevenson in the first quarter, they defended him well in the passing game. He had one fewer reception yard (3) than he had total receptions (4).

18 – Both Tyler Huntley and Jacoby Brissett completed 18 passes. In addition, both teams’ leading receivers (Tyreek Hill and DeMario Douglas, respectively) each caught six passes.
