The Numbers Behind Miami’s Week 11 Win
Coming off a bye week has been notoriously tough for the Miami Dolphins and their contest with the Raiders was no exception (at least for the offense). Although they narrowly escaped, winning by 7, the offense was frustrating to watch much for the game. Miami has not had many challenges at home this year and although this was a tough one, a great deal of that needs to be attributed to the Dolphins execution.
Let’s look at some of the numbers that tell the story of Miami’s win over Las Vegas.
1 – This was the first time this season that the Raiders have allowed a 300 yard passer.
3 – By securing their 3rd interception of the game the Dolphins nearly doubled their season total of 4 coming into the game.
17 – It has been 17 games since the defense last got 3 ints in a single game.
2 – Miami has suffered while playing at home twice in the past 19 games.
23.5 – For the first time this year Miami didn’t pour on the points against an adversary with a losing record. Their 20 points vs the Raiders were 23.5 points less than their season average of 43.5 points.
33 – After winning his 2nd challenge of the year, head coach Mike McDaniel is now successful 33% of the time while throwing the red flag.
0/3 – Miami was 0 for 3 in 1 yard to go situations when calling a pass play on Sunday.
50 – In the 3rd quarter, Jason Sanders hit his first 50 yard field goal of 2023.
6 – Tyreek Hill’s 146 yards receiving was the 6th time this season he has eclipsed 100 yards.
111.1 – Hill has to average 111.1 yards per game, the rest of the season to become the first 2000 yards wide receiver in NFL history.
