Don’t look now, but the Miami Dolphins are, perhaps, the hottest team in the NFL heading into Thanksgiving. It’s a sentence that, just a few short weeks ago, would’ve sounded insane. With Tua back in rhythm in Mike McDaniel’s offense, this team is finally starting to look like the group we thought we would see entering the year.

On NFL Network’s Good Morning Football, Kyle Brandt not only picked the Dolphins as his AFC statement win of the week, but he went so far as to hand out a bold prediction.

“My statement is look out. Look out that right now the eight seed in the AFC playoffs is Miami Dolphins. Look out. They’ve won three in a row. Look out. Tua exuding confidence just chucking touchdowns all over the field. If you just watched the last couple of weeks you would think this is the Dolphins machine that we’ve come to expect under Mike McDaniel. You would not think that they were a two and six team.

But here’s the deal. This this is plain and simple. We have a very loaded matchup this week for the Dolphins in which they go to Lambeau at night on Thanksgiving. And every single storyline about weather and conditions, are they soft, and flashbacks to Arrowhead?… The Dolphins come in on a three game win streak. If they win in Lambeau against a very good Packers team in the elements on Thanksgiving. Then it’s look the hell out!… I think there is nothing more exciting than the Dolphins and Tua and McDaniel and Tyreek and Waddle to come tearing down the stretch. Here’s my take. If they win Thursday night and it’s a huge if, the Dolphins win Thursday night they’re going to the playoffs. They will get in the playoffs.”

It’s hard to argue his point as they’re playing as well as any team in the league and if they can get past Green Bay the schedule lightens. As for the weight Brandt is putting on Thursday’s game, McDaniel is aware.

“I really don’t think this team has to be told it’s a big game,” McDaniel said. “And they wouldn’t believe me if I told them it was just another game.”
