Dolphins Announced As In Season Hard Knocks Team
In a joint statement with NFL Films, HBO announced the Miami Dolphins will appear on the in-season episode of “Hard Knocks” this fall, making them the third team to be part of the series, after the Arizona Cardinals and Indianapolis Colts.
The Dolphins last appeared on “Hard Knocks” in the offseason of 2012, when the show tracked Miami’s training camp, capturing memorable moments like Vontae Davis‘ trade to the Colts.
This time, viewers will see inside the season of Mike McDaniels’ Dolphins already inspiring run. From the 70-20 drubbing of the Denver Broncos, the return of recently acquired All-Pro Cornerback Jalen Ramsey, and the return, emergence, and reinjury of rookie phenom running back Devon Achane, there’s plenty of stories to choose from.
The Dolphins are the most electric team to feature on the new version of “Hard Knocks” by a fair stretch. Not only do they look promising, but compelling storylines exist throughout their coaching staff and players. Seeing the inner workings of Mike McDaniels and how the team handles injury concerns around quarterback Tua Tagovailoa must make captivating television for football fans eager for how deep this team can go.
After the announcement, McDaniel discussed Hard Knocks during his scheduled media availability.
I don’t think it’s a bad thing for people to see our day-in, day-out hard work,” the Dolphins head coach said “I know there’s a lot of guys on this team that will garner interest, really. I think that a platform for them to showcase who they are and really the fanbase to get to know the players and coaches better, I can understand the value to the National Football League, to HBO, to NFL Films, and I can understand the value for the Miami Dolphins.”
McDaniel went on to state also believes his group is absolutely ready and capable of dealing with the sort of attention that comes with the project.
“It’s something that I think that this particular team is equipped to handle, just because the focus of really how they go about their day-in day-out jobs,” McDaniel said. “I’m also very proud of this organization, having been in multiple. I know that this is, from the top down, a very healthy, all moving in one direction organization that I think it’s not bad for the organization to be seen as that, because it’s a cool place to work…the bottom line is if you’re getting done what your whole mission statement is, it’s going to be done under a spotlight. So getting used to having a weekly spotlight for this young team isn’t necessarily a bad thing either.”
