In their first meeting since the 2024 playoffs, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers dominated the Philadelphia Eagles once again by a final score of 33-16. The Bucs capitalized on the absences of Lane Johnson by sacking Jalen Hurts six times. In addition, the absences of AJ Brown and DeVonta Smith allowed Tampa’s secondary to limit Jalen Hurts to a season low of 158 passing yards.

Here are the numbers that defined the Bucs’ third win of the season.

4thBaker Mayfield threw for 347 passing yards in the victory. It was the 4th highest passing yardage total of any quarterback thus far in 2024.

10, 49Bucky Irving totaled ten rushes for 49 yards. Rachaad White, on the other hand, totaled… ten rushes for 49 yards. However, of the two of them, Irving was the one that found paydirt.

33 – The Eagles’ wide receiver corps, which was heavily depleted due to the absences of AJ Brown and DeVonta Smith, totaled 33 yards receiving. The Bucs paid tribute to this yardage total by scoring 33 points.

1st – The Bucs’ pass defense allowed their first pass touchdown of the season in the second quarter; it was a one yard strike from Jalen Hurts to Parris Campbell.

2021 – While it wasn’t in the Bucs’ favor, it is an incredible oddity and rare achievement for Philadelphia. The Eagles returned a blocked PAT attempt for a touchdown. It was the first time this has happened in the NFL since Seattle achieved the feat in November of 2021.

17 – The blocked PAT was the first missed on the year for Chase McLaughlin. Outside of the blocked kick, he has made all 17 of his kicks (seven field goals, ten extra points) thus far in 2024.

2.8 – Outside of a 59 yard carry on the first play from scrimmage in the third quarter, the Bucs limited Saquon Barkley to 2.8 yards per carry.

4Four players on the Bucs (Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, Sterling Shepard, Rachaad White) had a catch for at least 21 yards.

+0.5 – The Bucs’ margin of victory was 17 points despite the fact that they were a one half point underdog going into the game.

8, 2, 1 – The defensive star of the game for the Bucs, far and away, was Lavonte David. He had eight total tackles, two sacks, and added one pass defended for good measure.

1st – Today’s Bucs game was the first time that color commentator Tom Brady broadcasted a game against one of his former teams.

30 – Baker Mayfield had exactly as many pass completions (30) as Jalen Hurts had pass attempts (30).
