Scuffles And Sprints Headline Final Day At The Greenbrier
The Cleveland Browns enjoyed an eventful final day at The Greenbrier on Sunday. Deshaun Watson was cooking, players were fighting, and the whole team was sprinting. Here are the highlights from the day that was.
Scuffles and Sprints
Multiple scuffles near the end of training camp on Sunday led to Kevin Stefanski making his entire team run sprints at the end of practice.
On one play, DE Ogbo Okoronkwo was blocked into the ground by OT James Hudson. Okoronkwo retaliated by slapping Hudson on the side of the helmet and quickly scurrying away. When Okoronkwo turned back around, Hudson was there waiting. He shoved the DE and a quick fight broke out, though the players were separated soon after.

It didn’t stop there. OL Tyrone Wheatley was involved in a scuffle with DL Alex Wright that led to Wheatley limping off the field with an apparent injury.
An understandably displeased Kevin Stefanski made all of his players run sprints in response to the fights:

Big Plays By DBs
The Browns had one of the better secondaries in the NFL in 2022. They ranked in the top five in opposing completion percentage, passing yards allowed, and passing TDs allowed. Practice on Sunday showed the Browns have picked up right where they left off. Juan Thornhill and Greg Newsome each made big plays, and Newsome celebrated his with a quick round of push ups.

In addition, safety Grant Delpit, who had a solid practice on Sunday, said afterwards that he expects greatness out of himself in 2023.
“I haven’t shown any to myself. I haven’t shown anything yet. Greatness. And that comes from being out here every day, putting in the work. You can’t have any excuses when it comes to getting on that field.”
Who Was Out
DT Trysten Hill did not practice due to a hand injury, and TE Jordan Akins, who spent the first five years of his career with the Houston Texans before signing with the Browns, has been out this week due to knee pain. WR Jakeem Grant and RB Jerome Ford remained inactive from practice for personal reasons, and OT Jack Conklin was given a day off.
Coming Together
Though the end of practice was headlined by fights and competitiveness taking over, Stefanski brought the team together for one last picture before they departed from the Greenbrier.
