The Buffalo Bills have spent their bye week receiving all the love. Fresh off ending the Chiefs bid for a perfect season, Josh Allen and company have been the lead topic on every national sports show. But is this just another one of those years where they flash huge in the regular season only to eventually fall to Mahomes in the playoffs?

Chris Simms doesn’t think so.

Simms, who is consistently one of the leagues best analysts, thinks this is just the start.

“I’m going to tell you, I think if they play in the playoffs again the Bills will win this football game. They match up really well with the Chiefs right now.”

The former quarterback turned NBC sports host explained his reasoning in great detail.

“I think that the Bills have more weapons than Kansas City. This matchup has definitely changed in the favor of the Buffalo Bills, right? They won that game by nine, and they probably should have won by more. They controlled the football game. The Chiefs defense is not as good as last year. I talked about some of the struggles they’ve had the last few weeks where they barely win football games… My 40 years of football experience wants to say you can’t play this way and win a Super Bowl but they did it last year so it’s hard to say that about the Chiefs…but I still want to go, man can they really do the dynamic of this matchup?

Then, for the first time ever in the history of this matchup, the Buffalo offensive line has the advantage over the Kansas City D line. It’s the first time ever in the matchup where the Chiefs went uh-oh we can’t just play let’s stop Josh Allen and all his craziness. If we don’t play stop the run they will bully us. That has changed, okay.

And then, when you couple that we got Amari Cooper, we got Curtis Samuel, even Mack Hollins, right. I know Keon Coleman when he’s out there and healthy is also like this… Chiefs want to play all these crazy run defenses and you want to play man to man? No, no. Shakir or Cooper can get open against man to man. You better watch out. This is not the same old Bills football team where it’s Gabe Davis who runs 48 down the middle of the field and just hope you play zone. That’s where it’s different and I think this will be different as we go forward.”

As much as we don’t want to get our hopes up it’s hard to disagree. This feels like the most complete Bills team we’ve had with Josh Allen. The coaching staff is great, the schemes are working, and the role players are excelling. Ultimately, the bills will have to prove that what they are building is viable in the playoffs, but we, like Sims, agree that they have a very real shot
