“Keep kicking the door, keep kicking the door and you’re going to knock it down,” Bills GM Brandon Beane said. “That’s my mentality.”

After being eliminated in four out of the last five postseasons by the Kansas City Chiefs, Beane will be looking for answers to put his team over the edge and finally take down their kryptonite.

Mike Florio mentioned that they might find one of those answers with the number one player in the 2025 free agency class.

“I would go after Tee Higgins if I (were) the Buffalo Bills,” Florio said. “I said that the other day, and I know there’s a bunch of other teams that presumably will be interested. The Bills could get the most out of him. He’s capable of being a number one receiver. I think somebody yesterday was acting like, well, he needs Ja’Marr Chase. No, he doesn’t. He’s great when Chase has been injured, and he was great before Chase got there. They have two number one receivers in Cincinnati and one of them is going to be walking out the door. If I’m the Bills, that’s the kind of thing that I’m gonna try to do and elevate my team.”

It would be an excellent fit. Tee Higgins is a superb downfield threat who thrives in contested catch situations and, by all accounts, is an all around good dude. He’s shown time and time again that he can be a number one wide receiver, and any number one receiver in an offense led by Josh Allen is bound to pay dividends. He’d be the second coming of Stefon Diggs, except he wouldn’t have an innate desire to throw haymakers at the coaching staff in every game that he doesn’t receive 25 targets.

If the Bills want to acquire his services, it won’t be easy. Per Spotrac, they are currently just over $10 million over the cap heading into the 2025 offseason. Besides Josh Allen, six players (Von Miller, Ed Oliver, Dion Dawkins, Matt Milano, Dawson Knox, and Greg Rousseau) have at least a $13 million cap hit. Of those six, Miller, Oliver, and Dawkins are all at or above $20 million. The numerous pricy contracts the Bills have will not make his acquiring services easy, and Brandon Beane is well aware of this fact.

The benefits, however, would be irreplaceable. While he has been bitten by the injury bug over the last couple seasons, Tee Higgins is a proven talent at wide receiver who can catch passes at any level of the field. He has been a big part of the Cincinnati Bengals’ success since he and Joe Burrow were drafted together in 2020. Higgins has stated a desire to remain in Cincinnati, and the team wants him to stay as well. However, the Bengals, a notoriously frugal organization, may not be willing to pony up the money that Tee is worth. An opportunity for Tee to be a number one wide receiver making WR1 money in a Josh Allen-led offense may be too juicy of an opportunity for him to pass up.
