As the Buffalo Bills prepare for an epic showdown with the Baltimore Ravens, all the attention is on quarterbacks. The national media is reveling in the moment as the leagues top 2 MVP candidates(in a VERY debated race) will square off in what promises to be must see TV.

But while most of the shouting sports shows are debating which quarterback’s legacy this game means more for, the Colin Cowherd Podcast took a different approach.

Guest Danny Parkins led Collin in when he leaned Buffalo in the big matchup.

“I’m gonna go down with the ship with Josh Allen.” Parkins said. “Baltimore’s already favored in Buffalo?… That’s a little disrespectful.”

Cowherd quickly responded by hammering an opinion that he’s had for a while; he loves this current version of the Bills.

“This is the best version of the Bills.” Cowherd declared. “This Bills team NOW (has) a top five back, a top two left tackle, a top two quarterback… now that (Keon Coleman) has emerged… it’s a real receiving corps. Two capable tight ends. This is their best offensive line, and Sean McDermott, to his credit, I think is a better coach than two years ago. I think he has gotten better…I’m not betting against Buffalo. In every game that has mattered this year at home they have crushed everyone.”

Cowherd’s right and this version of the Bills, and the moment they are in, is a true testament to stability. Where many organizations fire coaches who don’t get to the mountain top and make rash decisions for playmakers, (see Jets) Buffalo decided to commit to cohesion and a stable working environment.

Their decision to continue with Sean McDermott and ship out Stefon Diggs has been met with incredible results. In what was supposed to be a rebuilding year the team has finally built an identity that makes them not just a good football team, but a football team that’s actually built for playoff football.

And, oh by the way, a football team that’s built for the future.

While part of the NFL remains obsessed with the Sean McVay coaching tree and flashy wide receivers, the Buffalo Bills are one of a handful of teams that have committed to rebuilding their offensive line and focusing on the running game to help their quarterback. Funny thing, nearly all of those teams are still playing. And while Saquan and the Eagles, Henry and the Ravens, Gibbs and the Lions, and Pacheco and the Chiefs all are viable opponents, it’s fun, looking back at where the Bills were, to enjoy that they have put themselves right in the mix as a true contender that this fanbase can believe in.
