Trey Hendrickson Requests Trade

The Enquirer

A little over a month after Tee Higgins requested a trade, the Bengals’ 2023 team MVP has done the same.

After signing a four year, $60 million deal in 2021, Hendrickson has made the Pro Bowl in each of his first three seasons in Cincinnati. Prior to the 2023 season, Hendrickson agreed to a one year extension with the Bengals worth a total of $21 million, and that deal expires in 2025. However, that deal doesn’t include any guaranteed salary money.

Per Paul Dehner Jr. of the Cincinnati Enquirer, the Bengals are unwilling to deal both star players.

Despite the fact that he currently has the third highest cap hit on the Bengals, he has overplayed his contract. Per OverTheCap, out of 212 edge rushers in the NFL, the value on Hendrickson’s contract ranks 11th.

In three Pro Bowl years with the Bengals, the star edge rusher has a total of 39.5 sacks (including 17.5 in 2023) and has averaged 36 combined tackles per season.

His current contract expires in 2025, and Hendrickson is looking for more long term security as he enters his age 30 season.
