The Numbers Behind Bengals Big Win Over Colts

The Bengals played their most dominant game of the Jake Browning era, as they handily defeated the Indianapolis Colts by a final score of 34-14. It was a highly encouraging effort from Cincinnati, who just won their second game in a row and is now right back in the thick of the AFC playoff picture.

Let’s look at some of the numbers behind the big win!

0 – The Bengals allowed Jake Browning to get sacked zero times; it was the first time the Bengals have allowed zero sacks in a game all year.

0 – The Bengals allowed a combined zero points in the first quarter and the second half combined.

3, 4 – Jake Browning was highly effective at spreading the ball around, as no Bengal had more than 3 receptions and no more than 4 targets.

2 – Two Bengals players, Chase Brown and Tanner Hudson, both scored their first career TDs today.

54 – Chase Brown’s TD debut in the NFL was a 54-yard reception from Jake Browning in the first quarter.

2 – A.J. McCarron appeared in the game for two drives; one could have culminated in a Tee Higgins TD catch had the receiver not been flagged for offensive pass interference on the TD reception.

2 – Trey Hendrickson had two of the Bengals’ three sacks in today’s game.

46 – The Bengals held the Colts’ rushers to a combined 46 rushing yards.

1 – BJ Hill’s interception off Gardner Minshew was his first career interception.

6 – Evan McPherson made all six of his kicks today, nailing down two field goals and four PATs. Colts K Matt Gay, however, missed both his lone field goal attempt and lone PAT attempt.

25 – The Colts scored both of their touchdowns today in a span of 25 seconds.

11.5 – Jake Browning had 11.5 yards per pass attempt, nearly three more yards than any other QB had in Week 14.

230 – Joe Mixon and Chase Brown combined for 230 all purpose yards against the Colts.

3 – Three of Jake Browning’s completions went for at least 45 yards.

3/11 – Both teams were 3 for 11 on third down attempts.

0.9 – The Bengals averaged 0.9 rush yards more than the Colts did today.

6 – While the Bengals didn’t give up a ton of yards to tight ends today, they did allow their sixth TD reception to a tight end on the year – a 2 yard catch to Mo Alie-Cox.

21 – Joe Mixon had 21 carries in today’s game – they went for 79 yards and a touchdown. He now has a touchdown in six out of his last seven games.

5/50 – The Bengals had five penalties on the game that amounted to 50 yards, as opposed to Indianapolis, who had nine penalties for 66 yards.

5 – Of the Bengals’ five trips into the red zone, they scored every time; they had three touchdowns and two field goals on their red zone trips.
