The Numbers Behind Cincinnati’s Big Primetime Win

The Bengals got a primetime win against the Buffalo Bills on Sunday night and all of a sudden they’re starting to look like the contender we all remember. Let’s take a closer look at some of the numbers that tell the story of the big win over Buffalo.

10, 101, 2 – The Bengals’ three tight ends had a combined stat line of 10 receptions, 101 yards, and two touchdowns. (Tanner Hudson: 4/45, Drew Sample: 3/30/1, Irv Smith: 3/26/1)

1 – The Bengals’ win against the Bills was their first win against an AFC team this season.

1 – This was Tee Higgins’ first game of the year breaking the century mark in receiving yards, as he had 8 receptions for 110 yards.

1 – The Bengals only gave up one sack to a Bills team that came into the week tied for second in the NFL in sacks. (The Bengals also only had one sack in the game courtesy of BJ Hill)

1 – Cam Taylor-Britt had the Bengals lone interception on the day. The pass was intended for Gabe Davis, who had…

0 – zero receptions on the day.

10 – Mike Hilton had 10 solo tackles on the night, three more than anyone in the NFL had in Week 9.

10/81 – The Bengals continued their struggles in defending tight ends, as Dalton Kincaid had 10 receptions for 81 yards on the day.

348 – Joe Burrow threw for 348 yards on the night, his highest total of the year thus far.

49 – The Bengals only allowed Bills’ running backs James Cook (39) and Latavius Murray (10) to have 49 all purpose yards.

3:32 – Josh Allen did not throw a single touchdown until there was 3:32 remaining in the game where he connected with Stefon Diggs in the right corner of the end zone.

4 – After throwing for zero TDs in three of his first four games, Joe Burrow has thrown multiple touchdowns in four consecutive games.

10:2 – Joe Burrow has a 10:2 TD to INT ratio over his last four games.

9 – Ja’Marr Chase had nine receiving yards through the first three quarters. However, early in the fourth quarter, Joe Burrow connected with him on a 32 yard pass, which was Burrow’s longest pass of the game.

3 – The first three drives of the game for both teams went for touchdowns.

49 – Both teams had exactly 49 penalty yards on the night.

2.6 – Joe Mixon had 2.6 yards per carry, which was his first game of the year with under two yards per carry.

3 – Brad Robbins had three punts, all of which pinned the Bills inside their own 20 yard line. Of the Bills three punts, however, none of them pinned the Bengals inside their own 20.

5 – Five Bengals players (Tee Higgins, Tyler Boyd, Tanner Hudson, Ja’Marr Chase, and Drew Sample) averaged at least ten yards per catch.

108.9 – Joe Burrow had a 108.9 passer rating on the game, his third game with a 108+ passer rating on the day.
