Taylor Still Intent On Winning By Any Means Neccessary

Despite the lack of playoff implications that this week’s game against Cleveland has, Zac Taylor still wants to end the 2023 season on a high note.

“Our No. 1 objective is to win this game by any means necessary. However that looks is however it looks. The fans that have continued to support us and cheer for this team and put their heart and soul into supporting us, get a chance to watch us play hard in a home game and find a way to win,” Zac Taylor said via the team’s website.

A win this week against the Browns, who may be resting some of their starters for the playoffs, would help the AFC North make history.

A loss, however, would clinch a winless record for the Bengals against the AFC North for the first time since 2002, when they ended their season with a 2-14 record.

There are statistical implications to this game as well. Trey Hendrickson is vying for the NFL sack title and is currently tied with Steelers star T.J. Watt for the league lead heading into Week 18. It would make him the first Bengal to lead the league in sacks since it became an official stat in 1982.

On offense, Joe Mixon, who has not rushed for 100 yards in a game all season, is 77 rushing yards shy of his fourth 1,000 yard rushing season. In addition, Ja’Marr Chase is 3 yards shy of 1,200 receiving yards and 4 receptions away from his first career 100 reception season.

Cincinnati and Cleveland will be squaring off in the regular season finale at Paycor Stadium on Sunday, January 7th at 1pm.
