Shannon Sharpe And Chad Johnson Blast Bengals Failure To Build Around Joe Burrow

As Zac Taylor and the Bengals are busy hoping new ping pong tables can fix their disappointing season, the sports media world continues to weigh in on the team’s underwhelming year.
The latest to have an opinion? Shannon Sharpe and none other than Chad Johnson himself. The pair dedicated a whole segment of their wildly popular Nightcap podcast to the current situation.
Sharpe and Johnson declared Joe Burrow the obvious MVP if it weren’t for their losing record, and went off on the lack of building around the quarterback, specifically on defense. “He has to put up those sort of numbers because his defense is BAD.” Sharpe said. “The Bengals are in a position to contend year in and year out because of who they have at the quarterback. Now what you have to do is you got to build around him, they already build around him offensively now you got to build the g***amn defense!” Johnson added. “It’s gonna hurt you because you got a quarterback on max money” Sharpe continued “A receiver that’s not going to give you a discount because you jerked them around. So what you could have got him for say 145 million is gonna probably cost you 155 160 and he’s gonna want 90 million in guaranteed…you’re probably gonna lose Hendrickson. Remember he wanted more money. You gonna lose him…you need a D tackle you let Reader go…go yeah. So you got y’all got your work cut out.”
The two continued on to discuss the Evan McPherson situation and how Joe Burrow would be doing if he were in a different situation like Minnesota.
