The Tee Higgins saga has taken its first step towards a conclusion. On Monday the Cincinnati Bengals officially tagged Higgins, issuing a one-year tender offer worth roughly $21.8 million for 2024. The two sides now have until July 15 to work out a new long-term deal, but many feel either a deal or trade will happen first.

This was an inevitable step towards a Higgins resolution. What happens next is usually tied to the team’s intentions. Often we see players like Davante Adams get franchise tagged and then subsequently receive an offer not requisite of their abilities. This leads to discontent and in inevitable trade. In other situations, the team is just trying to buy itself sometime while it goes through free agency and assesses the cap situation in order to figure out the best way to get a deal done.

Although many Bengal fans are hoping for the latter, in this moment it feel like we are more likely days away from
A Higgins trade request. It’s been a difficult process for the fan base who share a mutual admiration for a receiver, who has truly come to love the city.

We will keep you updated on the story as it develops.
