Justin Jefferson To Caleb Williams: “You’re A Killer, Boy”
Turning around the history of Chicago Bears quarterbacks was always going to be difficult, but after a 4-2 start, there was hope that Caleb Williams‘ transition to the NFL would defy those bad vibes swirling around Soldier Field. Then an eight-game losing streak happened, and Williams finds himself on a non-factor team while fellow rookie QBs Jayden Daniels and Bo Nix are playoff-bound.
Troy Aikman watched Williams get chased around and collect his 57th and 58th sack of the season in Monday night’s 30-12 loss to the Minnesota Vikings and was concerned with what he saw. “When I watch him, you can tell he’s a defeated guy,” said the former rookie QB (and Super Bowl winner). “He hasn’t been through anything like this at any point in his career, and what you worry about is a rookie quarterback losing confidence.”
So it’s a good thing that Minnesota wideout Justin Jefferson was there to give Williams a pep talk after the game. “You’re a killer, boy,” the Vikings star said. “Keep doing your thing.”

Real recognizes real, and Jefferson going out of his way to tell a division rival that speaks volumes. Despite an uneven night, Williams still picked up his 17th touchdown pass of the season and avoided throwing an interception for the eighth-straight game. And with how much pressure the Vikings were able to get on the offensive line, it’s a minor miracle Williams was only sacked twice.

It’s a rough start for Williams, but even with all the negativity in Chicago, the rookie is earning respect from the NFL’s top players. While that doesn’t erase the bad feelings that come with losing eight-straight games, that has to count for something.
